“The completion of Martin Luther King Jr. Academy fulfills Bond Measure I, a 15.9 million dollar modernization project passed in 2004 by the voters of the entire district community to build new/upgrade school facilities in our district. The district applied for and received a QZAB bond which provided us almost a half million dollars for science and technology equipment for Martin Luther King Jr. Academy . The infusion of these dollars resulted in state of the art technology throughout the school and allowed for greater technology integration into the curriculum. This vibrant and exciting new school is a symbol of the Sausalito Marin City School Board of Trustees commitment to provide state-of-the art facilitates to benefit the educational needs of the students in our district. Through a grant from the Milagro Foundation the school is building a fabulous garden that will provide exciting curriculum on nutrition and engage our local community in some very exciting learning opportunities. The Marin Community Foundation has identified the school as a part of its Strategic Plan for the future which will provide our teachers an incredible opportunity for professional development and curriculum development into future years. We are so proud of the opportunity to have the community join us in this Ribbon cutting event and celebrate our new facility.”
